Biography

I’m a Solicitor in the Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell, based in our Newcastle office.

I specialise in supporting clients who have sustained catastrophic injuries including brain and spinal cord injuries and amputations as well as serious orthopaedic injuries.

I have a passion for rehabilitation, and I work closely with our clients and other professionals such as case managers and specialist therapists to implement tailored rehabilitation packages for our clients. I have a special interest in amputation cases, and I co-founded the North East Amputee Support Group.

I am an accredited Litigator with APIL. In 2025 I was recognised as the Rising Star of the Year at the Northen Law Awards.

I joined Irwin Mitchell in 2017 and prior to qualifying in 2022, I worked as a paralegal in our workplace Injury team before commencing my training contract in 2020.

What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?

I love working at Irwin Mitchell because it’s a place where I’ve been supported to grow both professionally and personally and as a team we work collaboratively, with a client-first approach, which aligns perfectly with my values. It’s fulfilling to work somewhere that not only values legal excellence but also prioritises rehabilitation, holistic client care, and social impact.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

I find it extremely rewarding to be able to see a client's growth throughout the lifetime of the case in all aspects of their life and to be able to play a role in that recovery and rehabilitation. I have a passion for rehabilitation and I love being able to see the positive impact we can have on someone's life and help them rebuild after serious and often catastrophic injuries. The client centred focus we take is very important and keeps me passionate about what I do.

What inspired you to get into law?

I chose to study law as I wanted to study a degree which would challenge me on a daily basis and also provide me with a broad set of skills.

My interest in personal legal services began during my degree, where I took part in voluntary and pro bono projects. One of the most formative experiences was an internship with the Validity Foundation in Budapest, advocating for the rights of disabled people across Central and Eastern Europe.

I saw how much of a positive and impactful change you could have on someone's life and knew I wanted to be in a role where I could do that. Then when attending an event with various law firms while at university confirmed that Irwin Mitchell was the firm I wanted to work for.

What do you do away from the office?

I enjoy traveling and exploring new countries and cultures, including Thailand and Indonesia. I enjoy keeping fit in the gym and pilates, horse riding and I love countryside walks with my partner and our dog Moose.

If I am not outside, you will find me lost in a good book.

Testimonials

"From the minute I contacted Irwin and Mitchell with a case for my daughter the service was excellent. Within a few days we were put in contact with Francesca who arranged a zoom call with myself and my daughter.

"From then it was full steam ahead and within a matter of weeks we had a case manager, private photo, OT and all the necessary support we required. The whole team were so supportive throughout our journey, keeping us updated at every stage. I cannot thank Fran, Jennifer and Alicia enough for the past 4 years." - Client's mother
