Biography
I work as a paralegal in the Court of Protection, specialising in property and financial affairs for individuals who lack capacity to manage these themselves. My role involves regular contact with clients’ families, deputies, and care teams to ensure financial arrangements are appropriate and in the client’s best interests.
I assist with matters such as reviewing property insurance, arranging payments, and ensuring that assets are protected. I also help families understand the legal processes involved and provide clear, practical updates to support informed decision-making.
My aim is to offer reassurance and clarity while ensuring the client’s financial affairs are managed with care and compliance.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
What I enjoy most about working at Irwin Mitchell is the strong sense of teamwork and support across the firm. Everyone is approachable and collaborative, which makes a real difference when working on complex or sensitive matters. The systems and processes in place are efficient.
I also really value the flexibility and work-life balance the firm promotes.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding part of my role is being alongside clients and their families during key life moments. Whether it is supporting the purchase of a new home, arranging insurance for a major transition, or helping navigate changes in care needs, I value being a consistent point of contact.
It is a privilege to provide reassurance and practical support during times that are often both emotional and significant.
What inspired you to get into law?
My interest in law began during my work experience in a Court of Protection department, where I saw first-hand the impact legal support can have on individuals and families navigating complex decisions. That experience inspired me to pursue a law degree at Durham University, where I graduated with First Class Honours.
I was drawn to the Court of Protection because of its focus on protecting vulnerable individuals and the opportunity it gives me to work closely with families, helping them understand and manage legal processes with clarity and care.
What do you do away from the office?
I love going to the theatre and on holidays.
