Biography
I joined Irwin Mitchell after qualifying as a Solicitor in December 2022 having completed my training contract at a regional firm in North Wales.
My role is to assist clients in the management of their property and financial affairs, where they have been deemed to lack the requisite capacity to do so themselves. Many clients require a Court appointed Deputy to manage large sums of damages awarded following a personal injury or clinical negligence claim. Our aim is to ensure client’s funds last their lifetime, whilst ensuring their needs and any future goals are met.
I have experience in liaising with multiple third parties, including therapists, Claimant solicitors and Case Managers, including attending Multiple Disciplinary Team Meetings. I also have experience with Statutory Will applications, applications for authority to sell or purchase property on behalf of the client and applications to appoint a Second Trustee.
I also act for lay deputies in their application to the Court of Protection to become appointed as Deputy.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
My interest in the law stemmed from the fact I am passionate about people being treated with dignity and respect. Whilst being intellectually challenging, working in the Law allows me to build a strong rapport with clients and make a positive difference to their lives.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is the fact that each and every day is spent trying to improve the lives of others. Often, working in Court of Protection is a journey and we encounter lots of highs and lows. Being able to work closely with clients throughout their lifetime and assist them as much possible allows us to see the progress clients are making and witness them overcoming the challenges they face.
