Hayyin Tang

I act for Claimants who’ve suffered physical, sexual and other forms of abuse at the hands of carers/foster carers, teachers, social workers, nurses/doctors and adults in other positions of trust. I have expertise in bringing claims against organisations such as the NHS, The Scout Association, police forces, Local Authorities and religious organisations, as well as bringing proceedings against perpetrators directly.

I regularly act for protected parties such as children and those who lack capacity.  I also work closely with various external organisations to deliver training regarding civil actions following sexual abuse.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

I am often the first person that a survivor may have opened up to about their experiences of abuse. I never underestimate how difficult it is to share your experience with somebody and wanting to be truly listened to. Being able to play a small part in making a difference to my clients' lives, obtaining compensation on their behalf and seeing them achieve closure makes my job extremely rewarding.

What inspired you to get into law?

I always wanted a career which was intellectually challenging, and that I would also be in a position to problem solve and help people on a personal basis. Being a Solicitor specialising in Abuse Litigation combines everything I was looking for in a fulfilling career.

What do you do away from the office?

I am keen traveller and I enjoy cooking, spending quality time with loved ones and keeping active with Reformer Pilates.
