Biography
I'm a paralegal within the Military Team at our Manchester office here at Irwin Mitchell. I have five years' experience dealing with Personal Injury matters.
I have a significant experience of dealing with applications to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and more recently the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.
I work as as part of an fantastic team to help military personnel and veterans claim compensation for life-changing injuries sustained as a result of service.
What inspired you to get into law?
I have had an interest law since my university days. During the course of completing my Criminology and Sociology degree, I completed a number of modules that sparked my interest in law.
A number of years after I graduated, I landed a job as a paralegal in a local law firm. I have since worked my way up and at one point headed up a team.
A career in law was an obvious choice for me as I get a huge satisfaction from helping people. Especially people whose lives have been turned upside down from no fault of their own. I absolutely love the field that I work in and find the work incredibly rewarding.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I enjoy forming a relationship with the client. Some of the work I deal with can take a number of years so forming a great working relationship with a client is really important. Listening to the client and taking on board everything they say is priceless.
It’s also great securing the outcome that the client deserves and knowing that I have played a part in changing their life for the better.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
To have the opportunity to work with such a prestigious firm like Irwin Mitchell is fantastic. But to be a part of the award winning Military Team is even better. I feel incredibly lucky to work alongside lawyers with a plethora of knowledge.
The team are all super friendly and have been super helpful in helping me settle into my role.
Irwin Mitchell also offers a “flexible by choice” policy which allows for a great work-life balance.
What do you do away from the office?
Out of the office, I enjoy spending time with my other half, friends and family. I enjoy eating out and trying new restaurants. But I equally enjoy a cosy night in with a nice glass of wine.
I am a member of a group personal training gym and to unwind after a day at work I enjoy lifting heavy-ish weights in an attempt to keep fit.
I enjoy travelling and visiting new places in the UK and overseas and I have a huge bucket list of places that I want to visit.
I absolutely love live music and enjoy watching bands in all settings, from my local pub to Glastonbury Festival.
