Biography
I'm a solicitor in the London Court of Protection team. I am responsible for dealing with the day-to-day management of deputyship files.
I work for a variety of clients who lack mental capacity to manage their own property and affairs. I am passionate about my clients being able to live full lives and support them in reaching their goals. I pride myself on delivering the best client service to my clients and work collaboratively with other experts and rehabilitation experts to do so. My role is to make sure the person’s rights are upheld and their wishes and feelings are heard.
I also have experience in personal injury litigation and work on a number of files where there in an ongoing claim. I use my knowledge of the litigation process to assist clients and reassure them when they are unsure about aspects of the claim.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I work with a really great and friendly team, who are all passionate about helping people. The team I work in are all driven by helping our clients which makes each day enjoyable. Irwin Mitchell is a tier 1 firm and leading Court of Protection specialist, which makes it a great place to learn and refine my skills in the area.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I work for vulnerable clients, some of whom may have lived ordinary lives before their injuries. Just seeing my clients get to live full and purposeful lives is by far the most rewarding aspect of working as a Court of Protection lawyer.
What inspired you to get into law?
I originally studied Medical Physiology before making the decision to return to university and complete a law degree. I am passionate about helping people and have always had a strong sense of justice. I found that I wanted to help people within the parameters of the law, and not through medicine. Having seen the incredible work that can be done to better a person's life through the law, I was inspired to retrain as a lawyer.
When people come into contact with legal matters, they are often in distressing circumstances. I wanted to be able to make that process easier for people to understand and navigate.
What do you do away from the office?
Outside of my life as a lawyer, I am a keen sports enthusiast! I've played netball all my life and have continued to play with the Irwin Mitchell netball team. I am also a keen runner and love a good Pilates session if I can find the time.
I am also a lover of all things musical and spend lots of time going to see West End shows - which is often a perfect treat after a long day in the office.
If I am not exercising, or seeing a show then I am probably baking! I am a big fan of the Great British Bake Off and love making sweet treats for friends and family!
