Biography
I specialise in medical negligence claims and lead the team in Scotland. I have pursued and settled many of the most complex and high value cases in Scotland in recent years. I have a particular interest and expertise in birth damage and fatal cases.
I'm an accredited specialist by the Law Society of Scotland in medical negligence law and ranked Band 1 (top ranked) by Chambers UK and as a leading individual by the Legal 500.
I tutor on the Diploma at Edinburgh University (Personal Injuries) and provide guest lectures for the Medical Law & Ethics Masters class. I provide regular training to both the medical and legal profession.
I Chair the annual Personal Injuries Conference for the Law Society and sit on a number of court appointed subgroups to help develop and improve the court rules and procedures for personal injury cases (including medical negligence).
I am an appointed member of the Personal Injury Users Group.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I enjoy getting to know my clients and building a lasting relationship. I like to take the necessary time to understand the key aims of every client before providing tailored advice. In addition to obtaining answers and accountability, it is very rewarding to help people achieve fair compensation and financial security for the future.
What do you do away from the office?
I try to stay active by playing a variety of sports and getting to the gym. Most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children, going on holiday or just getting out for the occasional family walk/dinner!
