I am an Associate Solicitor in the Occupational Disease team in Sheffield and help employees who have suffered injury as a result of their employment. I have been at Irwin Mitchell for 4 years and qualified as a solicitor in September 2016.
I work with people who suffer with conditions such as:
- Respiratory problems including Occupational Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Lung Cancer, Byssinosis, Silicosis, Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis, and Legionnaires Disease
- Hand and Arm Vibration Syndrome
- Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
I also currently help a number of former military personnel who have suffered injury as a result of their service, which has ultimately ended their military career in some cases.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
My sister was born disabled due to medical negligence and I saw first hand how important a legal case can be to a client and their family. I saw how the compensation gained from a legal claim can lead to rehabilitation and greatly improve the quality of someone's life and knew instantly I wanted to help others too.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
Occupational Disease work is so varied that I never have two cases that are similar - it keeps me on my toes and engaged in the work I do.
What Do Yo Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell is a really friendly place to work and I work alongside some incredibly talented solicitors.
The firm puts the client at the heart of their work, this is incredibly important to me.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
In my spare time I enjoy watching my local football team, Sheffield Wednesday. I also enjoy spending quality time with my partner and my family, particularly my sister Lucy who I absolutely adore.
"Chelsea clearly and professionally explained all my options and helped me through every stage. Chelsea would make time to ring me when I became confused or worried about my case no matter the hour. During my settlement Chelsea gave me advice and was a calming influence on me which led to me winning a large figure. I feel like I have won life-changing money due to Chelsea’s hard work and I look forward to my future in my new family home. The only down side is that I feel like I am losing a friend and not a solicitor. She is an asset to Irwin Mitchell and I can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for me and my family." - 5* Trustpilot review
"Chelsea Towner you are a star, anyone who has any doubts about using Irwin Mitchell take my advice, Chelsea was fantastic, she kept me updated all the way through the claim against my still employer, and advised me about everything that was happening on a regular basis by email or a telephone call, I was made to feel comfortable at all times. Very very much appreciated on how everything was handled by this very professional solicitor." - 5* Trustpilot review
