Chelsea Towner

Solicitor

Biography

I am a Solicitor in the Occupational Disease team in Sheffield and help employees who have suffered injury as a result of their employment. I have been at Irwin Mitchell for 4 years and qualified as a solicitor in September 2016.

I work with people who suffer with conditions such as:

  • Respiratory problems including Occupational Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Lung Cancer, Byssinosis, Silicosis, Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis, and Legionnaires Disease
  • Noise Induced Hearing Loss and Tinnitus
  • Dermatitis
  • Hand and Arm Vibration Syndrome
  • Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.

I also currently help a number of former military personnel who have suffered injury as a result of their service, which has ultimately ended their military career in some cases.

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?

My sister was born disabled due to medical negligence and I saw first hand how important a legal case can be to a client and their family. I saw how the compensation gained from a legal claim can lead to rehabilitation and greatly improve the quality of someone's life and knew instantly I wanted to help others too.

What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?

Occupational Disease work is so varied that I never have two cases that are similar - it keeps me on my toes and engaged in the work I do.

What Do Yo Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?

Irwin Mitchell is a really friendly place to work and I work alongside some incredibly talented solicitors.

The firm puts the client at the heart of their work, this is incredibly important to me.

What Do You Do Away From The Office?

In my spare time I enjoy watching my local football team, Sheffield Wednesday. I also enjoy spending quality time with my partner and my family, particularly my sister Lucy who I absolutely adore.
