I'm a Senior Associate Solicitor with the Family Team in Birmingham. I have over 8 years experience in advising clients in relation to all areas of family law. I specialise in dealing with complex financial matters on following the breakdown of a relationship. I also advise in respect of Pre and Post-Nuptial Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements and children disputes.
What inspired you to get into law?
After finishing my GCSEs, I went on to full-time dance college with a planned career in the arts. Given that I had always been academic, I also studied for my A Levels in the evening, just in case! I had always been interested in law, but had never really experienced it until A Level and I enjoyed it so much, I decided to study law at university. From here I gained a passion for family law through various work placements and a desire to help people, which led me to where I am today!
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Family law is the perfect mix of technical expertise, practical application and a personable approach. I really enjoy being able to focus on strategy to get the best outcome for each and every client, while being able to help in what is often one of the most difficult times most people will face.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The expertise of the family team across the firm nationally is unrivalled and it is a pleasure to be part of such a tight knit, forward thinking team.
What do you do away from the office?
I have 2 little boys who keep me very busy when I am not working!
"It has been a very difficult decision for me to divorce my husband. From the beginning Charlotte and her team have been very honest and supportive. Any questions or concerns I have are dealt with quickly and I have a clear understanding of the process." - 5* Trustpilot review
"My experience with Irwin Mitchell was one of feeling completely supported, receiving very honest candid advice, and of working with a highly efficient, attentive team. I never felt in any way rushed in our consultations but discussions were always kept on track and on point. There was a deep understanding of the issues that impact on single mothers and their children which meant we could cut through a lot of the explanations and get straight down to strategies and solutions... For anyone going through the trauma of a family court case, I couldn't recommend Irwin Mitchell more highly." - 5* Trustpilot review
"Professional from start to finish" - 5* Trustpilot review
"Hannah Braisted and Charlotte Clewes were allocated my case, and from the beginning, I felt that they understood my situation, and I was made to feel more than just another client. Hannah and Charlotte understood that they were dealing with a legal process and an emotional process. They genuinely emphasised my position and provided me with the expert advice I needed. Hannah and Charlotte kept me updated throughout the process and showed endless patience when I needed extra information and reassurance before I made decisions that affected my children and me. I genuinely felt that they were not just trying to get the best outcome for me. They were trying to get the correct result to accommodate everyone’s needs and reduce the likelihood of future financial and emotional repercussions." - 5* Trustpilot review
