Biography
Having qualified as a Solicitor in 2020, I act for a variety of clients (including high-net-worth individuals) and advise on a wide range of private client matters, including:
- Succession and estate planning (including Will preparation and Inheritance Tax mitigation)
- Powers of attorney
- Probate and administration of estates
- Trusts (including drafting, advising trustees on duties and powers and the ongoing trust administration)
I am passionate about helping others and have volunteered in various roles within the UK and overseas. My experiences and exposures to date have shaped me into the type of individual that is dedicated to making a difference. As the Charity Representative for the Surrey Junior Lawyers Division committee (a voluntary Law Society-affiliated organisation), I am proud to be supporting our chosen charity of the year, Topic of Cancer.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I am grateful to work alongside exceptional colleagues who consistently go above and beyond to deliver for our clients. We are a very forward thinking and collaborative firm, and I am fortunate to work closely with partners Rose Macfarlane and Caroline Shelton - their guidance and support is invaluable to me.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Private Client is a technical practice area with a strong human element - my day can be spent helping a client get their affairs in good order to supporting with the administration of a loved one's estate. The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to their lives is incredibly rewarding and inspires me to go the extra mile. Being someone's trusted advisor is a role I'll never take for granted.
What inspired you to get into law?
I studied Psychology with Criminology at University and have always been fascinated by the human mind and individual differences. During my degree I was fortunate to shadow a Criminal barrister and realised a career in law would enable me to combine my technical skills with my strong sense of empathy - helping clients navigate complex and often difficult circumstances.
What do you do away from the office?
Away from the office, I can usually be found somewhere in the Surrey Hills with my husband and our sweet toddler. I have always enjoyed traveling and exploring different cultures along with life's simple pleasures - autumnal walks, good company and celebrating the small wins.

I have recently embarked on the STEP Diploma, a globally recognised qualification in trusts and estates.

Testimonials
"I thought Bethany Chamberlain's service was exemplary. She was exceptionally professional, reliable and diligent throughout. Her written report was thorough, detailed and clear to understand. Everything we required was delivered on time. The outcome reassured my wife and I about our plans for the future. I have been most impressed by Irwin Mitchell. If anyone I know requires help with their inheritance planning or management in the future, I will certainly recommend the company, particularly Bethany." - 5* Trustpilot review, November 2025
