I am a dual qualified Family Law Solicitor. I was admitted to practice in England in 1997 and admitted to practice in Australia in 2003. I remain qualified to practice in both England and Australia. I've specialised in family law since I qualified and I deal with all aspects; pre- and post-nuptial agreements for married couples, and living together and separation agreements for couples who aren’t married. I deal with all matters that can arise because of a separation, such as divorce and financial settlements.
I have a particular interest in cases involving children, for example, who a child lives with or spends time with. I deal with complex children cases, including cases where children are separately represented, and cases which have an international element. I also represent other family members such as grandparents and have experience of cases involving same sex couples.
I am regularly contacted and instructed by Solicitors and client’s in or from Australia, who may need assistance or advice. This might be to obtain “mirror” orders in England, advice on valuing pensions, service of documents and advice / assistance with issues of jurisdiction, and a whole range of other queries.
My aim is to guide clients through what can be a stressful time with empathy and understanding. I seek to achieve the best result possible for them and to ensure their case is dealt with in the most efficient and affordable way possible.

“Could I give this 6 stars. April Wood was brilliant, honest, dedicated, on the ball and fully supportive…….. April and the barristers she brought to the team were wonderful. They were fully professional but also cared about the outcome. I cannot speak highly enough of them”. - Mr G
“I was treated and represented exactly as I wanted to be. I have no hesitation in recommending Irwin Mitchell and April Wood in particular to represent exasperated, separated fathers like myself. I was taken through the stages and I was encouraged to make the right decision for me, and not for the company. The support throughout the proceedings and even afterwards have been great, and a source of comfort.” - Mr P
“Thank you very much for all your help, I couldn’t have done it without such an amazing service delivered by you and the team. I would without a moment’s hesitation recommend you to anybody and would always use you again although we hope the need for that never arises. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done to make sure that I get to spend Christmas with my son and on the basis of quality time that we will now share going forward, even if not together every day at least we now have what we have.” - Mr T
“Without my Family Law solicitor and her team I doubt I would have coped during the last 2 years as I have, not only the professional support but they looked after me as a person and made sure I stayed focused and grounded during the most trying of personal times……I walked away with my head held high, my pride and my business that I have committed 16 years of hard work to. Thank you so much….I will always be indebted to you.” - Mr S
“Fantastic service. April Wood who dealt with my case was very professional and supportive. I was kept to up to date every step of the way. She made me feel at ease and was very knowledgeable and understanding. I hope I don’t need April’s services again but if I did I would have no hesitation in getting in touch with her. Thank you.” - Ms D
