I am a solicitor in the Medical Negligence team in our London office. I qualified in September 2014, having previously spent 16 months in the team as a trainee solicitor.
I specialise in representing individuals who have been injured as a result of medical negligence by GPs, hospitals or other healthcare providers. I also have experience of acting in fatal cases and assisting families with the inquest process.
I manage my own varied case load covering a full range of medical issues, including psychiatric, surgical, obstetric, neonatal, orthopaedic, and cosmetic cases and claims involving a delay in diagnosis of cancer. I also assist other members of the team in particularly complex and high value cases, involving spinal and birth injuries and delays in diagnosis of meningitis. Some of my cases have featured in regional press titles including the Surrey Mirror and Epsom Guardian.
I work hard to achieve the best results for my clients, not only in terms of compensation, but also to facilitate the rehabilitation process to improve the quality of life for them and their family.
I also hold a Senior Litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and I am accredited by them as a Clinical Negligence Specialist. I speak fluent Polish.
I was shortlisted for PIC Magazine’s Clinical Negligence Rising Star Award 2018.
"I can't thank you enough for your support throughout this process. It's been a rollercoaster ride for sure... but you have been very proactive and professional throughout this case and I appreciate all your help."- Ruby, client
"What can I say? Excellent service without a doubt. The team were professional and always kept me posted on what was going on by mail or phone. Ania Bean was a star in the whole situation." - Matthew, client
I have always wanted to pursue a career involving helping people and making a difference and fought strongly for what I believe in. I also enjoy the varied nature of clinical negligence work as two cases are never the same.
I find helping people through what can be an incredibly difficult time in their lives and seeing the difference a compensation award makes to their quality of life very rewarding.
The people at Irwin Mitchell are passionate about helping people who have been injured through no fault of their own. We always look at the whole picture, trying to access rehabilitation, long term financial planning and any other resources our clients may need to move on with their lives; we also have the benefit of being supported by our Court of Protection, Public Law, Employment and Probate departments. At the same time, we work in small close-knit teams and are able to participate in numerous initiatives the firm supports. I am a member of the charity committee and regularly organise events to raise money for our charity of the year.
I enjoy singing and I am part of the Irwin Mitchell choir. I am also an avid football supporter and a keen reader.

The boy’s parents have provided dedicated care for him in very difficult circumstances and with very limited resources over the course of his life so far. This settlement now means that they have peace of mind that his specialist care, accommodation and equipment needs will be met.
“The case highlights the severe dangers of delay in diagnosing illnesses such as meningitis which can cause serious complications such as brain damage, if not treated quickly enough.
“Hopefully now lessons will be learned to ensure that other families do not find themselves in a similar situation in the future.”
Our client’s wife raised a number of very serious concerns over the level of care her husband received from the hospital Trust, leading to such a serious and devastating injury. We investigated the management that he received at the Trust, and secured a full admission of liability in 2015.
“It is important that the Trust learns lessons from this so no other families have to experience the pain that this family has to endure.
“The injuries our client suffered because of the negligence mean that life for this family will never be the same again. Nothing can change what happened but the settlement will now allow our client to live his life as independently as he possibly can.”
“Nothing can of course turn back the clock for Pa, but the ruling by the court now means we can secure a financial settlement for him which will fund rehabilitation, support therapies and any equipment or adaptations he may require to live as independently as possible.
“Pa’s medical treatment fell far below the standards usually practised within the General Practice with devastating consequences for him and his family. He has been left with life-changing injuries which should and could have been prevented.
“We will now work to ensure his future needs will be provided for.”
“This was a really tragic case and the family wants lessons to be learned and to raise awareness of the illness and the seriousness of meningitis symptoms. They have been fundraising for Meningitis Research Foundation and the Meningitis Now charity, both of which are really close to their hearts.
“The level of care in this case fell below the acceptable standards with devastating consequences for the family. Nothing can turn back the clock for them but it is some comfort that through the inquest and the medical negligence legal process issues have been identified that the NHS can now learn from to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.”
