Biography
I am a Solicitor in the Public Law & Human Rights Team, specialising in inquests, actions against the police and civil liberties. I joined the firm in August 2024 having qualified as a solicitor in April 2024 with four years of previous experience in this area of law.
Key Highlights
Inquests
I particularly specialise in acting for families who have lost their loved ones whilst they were detained by the state, usually in mental health units or in prison. I also advise and represent families in claims for breaches of the Human Rights Act 1998 which can follow on from the conclusion of an inquest.
Actions Against the Police and Civil Liberties
I act for individuals in actions against the police and other public authorities to bring claims for breaches of the Human Rights Act 1998, personal injury, negligence and/or false imprisonment.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I get to work alongside a team of highly professional, open, compassionate and driven lawyers who always strive to achieve the very best for their clients. There is a real sense of common purpose and team spirit, where everyone is willing to help one another out.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Building genuine, trusting relationships with clients and get to know them as individuals, as well as getting the chance to act on their behalf and ensure their voices are heard.
What inspired you to get into law?
As a teenager and at University, I had the opportunity to volunteer for a number of charities that supported homeless individuals, victims of trafficking and those who felt on the margins of society. I was greatly impacted by their lives and stories and became passionate about social justice and wanting to be a voice for those who had been oppressed, let down or experienced injustice out of no fault of their own. Being a lawyer offered me the chance to put this passion into action and fight for access to justice and for the rights of individuals to be upheld.
What do you do away from the office?
I seem to spend most of my spare time in wellington boots, looking after a smallholding of animals including pigs, alpacas, chickens and geese (and love every minute of it!).
