Biography
I am an Associate Solicitor in the Bristol office, specialising in industrial disease claims. I am actively involved in support groups which help families who are affected by asbestos-related diseases. I'm passionate about seeking justice for our clients and providing them with financial security for the future.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I always wanted to pursue a career which would help people, particularly those who are most vulnerable. After finishing my degree in Politics and Modern History, I tried my hand at teaching. Being in the classroom wasn’t really for me, but through my role as a Learning Support Worker, I was given the opportunity to represent a student on the child protection plan at a variety of multi-agency meetings.
I found this very rewarding and decided to take the plunge and apply for the Graduate Diploma in Law, followed by the Legal Practice Course. I am really pleased I made that decision and have never looked back.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of your Role?
My clients are lovely. It is an absolute pleasure getting to know them and working with them. Although I cannot change their diagnosis, it is rewarding to know that I am providing some financial security for them and their families.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
I'm very fortunate to work with like-minded people, who genuinely care about our wider community, as well as our clients.
Aside from my day-to-day job, I have really enjoyed supporting the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation and fundraising for some really fantastic charities, particularly The Anchor Society, of which I remain an active member as part of their communications team. I have also been part of the IM Aspiring employee network, focusing on social mobility and encouraging students from all backgrounds into law. I am a current member of the Bristol office’s environmental committee and have recently set up a litter picking group to help clear up the streets around central Bristol.
What Do You Do Outside The Office?
I live in my gym kit and can usually be found running, playing netball or at some sort of fitness class. I recently completed two half marathons, one of which raised around £1,200 for a charity close to my heart.
Other than that, I love history, cooking, socialising and spending time with my husband and daughter. I also have a keen interest in interior design and have enjoyed doing up our house over the last few years. Oh and I love dogs, although I don’t have one of my own.

“Alexandra Lausen fights the corner for her clients” Legal 500, 2023
Client Testimonials
“Alex was recommended to us by a consultant following a diagnosis of pleural thickening relating to asbestos exposure. We met Alex face to face, and she very patiently was able to help us understand the possible legal routes to making a claim and made us feel at ease with what felt like a daunting process, we had no hesitation in instructing Alex and Irwin Mitchell straight away. The case went on for many months but at all times Alex was extremely professional, was diligent, knowledgeable about all aspects of the case and our options, showed genuine concern and empathy and always made time to have calls with us and keep us updated on progress. We couldn't have asked for more. The case is now settled in our favour, and we are so grateful to Alex and everything she did for us. Alex is an exceptional person, and we would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone” – 5* Trust Pilot Review
“We would like to start by saying that Alexandra Lausen is the nicest, most supportive, wonderful Solicitor we've ever had the pleasure of working alongside. Our father passed away in September 2023 from Mesothelioma, caused by asbestosis. He couldn't recommend Alexandra enough. She was consistently on it from the very beginning to the very end. Anytime we had questions or were in need of any information, Alexandra would go the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. Her efficiency is second to none. Her unwavering ability to put a positive spin on a not so positive situation made all the difference to us as a family. She carried all of our worries, so that we didn't have to. We are eternally grateful to Alexandra and her amazing abilities and would highly recommend her to anyone. As would our Dad. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts” – 5* Trust Pilot Review
"Despite a very upsetting time with my father developing mesothelioma and later passing away, I can't fault Alex in the way that she assisted my father during his final stages and then later my mother and myself in fighting for justice and ensuring that the firms involved accepted liability. Alex's empathic and diligent approach to the whole situation has been fantastic and helped make a very emotional period bearable by keeping regular contact on any progress. The advice has been first class and her knowledge is comprehensive and second to none. I can't endorse Alex anymore if I tried. Thank you." - 5* Google review
