Biography
I am a Solicitor in the Bristol office, specialising in industrial disease claims.
I am actively involved in support groups which help families who are affected by asbestos-related diseases. I'm passionate about seeking justice for our clients and providing them with financial security for the future.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I always wanted to pursue a career which would help people, particularly those who are most vulnerable. After finishing my degree in Politics and Modern History, I tried my hand at teaching. Being in the classroom wasn’t really for me, but through my role as a Learning Support Worker, I was given the opportunity to represent a student on the child protection plan at a variety of multi-agency meetings.
I found this very rewarding and decided to take the plunge and apply for the Graduate Diploma in Law, followed by the Legal Practice Course. I am really pleased I made that decision and have never looked back.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of your Role?
My clients are lovely. It is an absolute pleasure getting to know them and working with them. Although I cannot change their diagnosis, it is rewarding to know that I am providing some financial security for them and their families.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
I'm very fortunate to work with like-minded people, who genuinely care about our wider community, as well as our clients.
Aside from my day to day job, I have really enjoyed being on the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation committee over the last two years and being able to get involved with all sorts of fundraising initiatives for some really fantastic charities – namely Bristol Autism Support, The Anchor Society and Off The Record.
What Do You Do Outside The Office?
I live in my gym kit and can usually be found running, playing netball or at some sort of fitness class.
Other than that, I love history, cooking, socialising with friends and travelling (when time and money allows). I also have a keen interest in interior design and have enjoyed doing up my house over the last three years with my husband. Oh and I love dogs, although I don’t have one of my own.
Client Testimonials
"Despite a very upsetting time with my father developing mesothelioma and later passing away, I can't fault Alex in the way that she assisted my father during his final stages and then later my mother and myself in fighting for justice and ensuring that the firms involved accepted liability. Alex's empathic and diligent approach to the whole situation has been fantastic and helped make a very emotional period bearable by keeping regular contact on any progress. The advice has been first class and her knowledge is comprehensive and second to none. I can't endorse Alex anymore if I tried. Thank you." - 5* Google review
