Biography
I am a Paralegal in the Medical Negligence Team in our Birmingham office. I have worked for Irwin Mitchell since 2019 and have spent most my live residing in both Birmingham and Coventry. I studied Law with Business at Nottingham Trent University before completing my Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Birmingham. I act on behalf of clients in medical negligence cases against NHS Trusts, private practitioners and general practitioners. I assist and work on a varied case load, which includes cases involving:
- Stroke and profound brain damage
- Spinal injuries
- Fatalities
- Neonatal deaths
Delay in diagnosis of cancer
- Attempted suicide, where this could have been avoided
-
Failures to diagnose serious conditions.
In addition to medical negligence cases, I also deal with cases where individuals have suffered sexual, physical and emotional abuse by members of religious organisations and where social services have failed to remove children earlier from their natural homes. In 2020, I was part of a new Social Media Group nominated for the Irwin Mitchell Team Award, for raising awareness to the public of the work we do in the Birmingham office. During the coronavirus pandemic, I helped in finding new and different initiatives to help raise funds for our offices chosen charities while working remotely.
What inspired you to get into law?
The opportunity to use my knowledge and personality to have a positive effect upon an individual’s life is what has motivated me to become a solicitor.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding aspect of the job is helping others along their rehabilitation journey in rebuilding a pathway to what life once was before their injuries occurred.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell is really committed to their clients, employees and the community. I am privileged to work with some of the most kind hearted, approachable, dedicated colleagues who share the same commitment as me, to their clients, in finding answers to the reason why they have been let down in some way or another.
What do you do away from the office?
I am a football Referee officiating football matches across the midlands. I am also an active mediator who volunteers my time to mediate neighbourly conflicts across Birmingham and Coventry.
