Biography
I have over 20 years of experience in Private Client work, specialising in Probate, Inheritance Tax, Wills, and Court of Protection matters. I am currently an Associate Paralegal in the London Court of Protection team at Irwin Mitchell LLP. I support the Court-appointed Deputy in the day-to-day management of the property and financial affairs of vulnerable individuals who lack capacity to manage these themselves.
A significant part of my role involves managing high-value compensation awards, often multi-million-pound settlements, resulting from clinical negligence, particularly for clients with catastrophic brain injuries and complex care needs requiring 24-hour support. I assist with the financial oversight of both interim payments and final settlement awards, ensuring funds are managed appropriately to support each client’s long-term needs.
I also work closely with a range of professionals, including case managers, therapists, housing occupational therapists, and construction specialists, to coordinate complex property adaptation projects and secure suitable accommodation. My role includes assisting with the implementation of tailored care and therapy packages and supporting clients and their families through the wider challenges they face. I also have extensive knowledge of welfare benefits and how they interact with personal injury damages and statutory funding.
In addition, I draft a variety of Court of Protection applications, including general deputyship orders and more specific, decision-focused orders where appropriate. I am genuinely passionate about the work that I do.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Working at Irwin Mitchell gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day. As a paralegal, I’m part of a team that genuinely cares about the wellbeing of our clients, and I’m proud to contribute to work that supports vulnerable individuals and helps protect their rights.
The culture here is collaborative and supportive, with a strong emphasis on professional development and ethical practice. I particularly value the trust and autonomy I’m given to manage complex matters, while knowing I have the backing of experienced colleagues and leaders.
Irwin Mitchell’s commitment to client-centred care aligns closely with my own values, and that makes the work not only rewarding but also deeply motivating.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Supporting vulnerable clients and their families at such critical points in their lives is both a privilege and a responsibility I take seriously. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the real, lasting difference that the right advice, support, and planning can make, not just to the individual, but to their entire support network.
What do you do away from the office?
I’m a proud mum to a wonderful 8-year-old son who brings so much joy and laughter into my life. Being a mother is one of the most fulfilling parts of who I am, and it inspires the compassion and dedication I bring to my work every day.
