29/04/2026

Law firm Irwin Mitchell has announced the appointment of Louisa Donaghy as a Legal Director in its national Military team in Leeds, which also covers Catterick Garrison.

Joining from another national law firm, where she was a Senior Associate, Louisa brings with her extensive experience in military claims and a strong track record of securing settlements for clients affected by catastrophic injuries, cold injuries, illness, and medical negligence.

She has also developed a recognised specialist practice in cases involving bullying, harassment, and sexual assault. Louisa has played a key role in several pioneering claims involving service personnel who developed carcinogenic diseases linked to working around military helicopters such as the Sea King aircraft. Indeed, it was Louisa’s tenacity and proactive approach that brought the Sea King helicopter issues to the forefront on behalf of several Veterans and their families.

Beyond her legal work, she is an active fundraiser for the Armed Forces Benevolent Fund, a charity providing lifetime support to British Army soldiers, veterans, and their families, as well as for local charities within the Catterick Garrison community.

Louisa will be the first member of Irwin Mitchell’s Military Team to be based in Leeds, and this strategic leadership move underscores the firm’s continued investment in growing its military offering both in the Catterick Garrison area and across the North of England.

Andrew Buckham, National Head of Military at Irwin Mitchell, said:

“Louisa’s extensive knowledge and experience in supporting military clients is an incredible asset and we’re excited for her to be joining Irwin Mitchell.

“Her exceptional record of securing settlements for clients in a wide range of military areas will certainly reinforce our strong standing, and we look forward to welcoming her.”

Louisa said:

“Irwin Mitchell’s commitment to growth and delivering exceptional client service is what first drew me to the firm, and I’m determined to make an impact, ensuring even more service personnel receive the justice, recognition and support they’re entitled to.

“I can’t wait to start working with clients to help them navigate the unique challenges faced by service personnel, veterans and their families.”

With more than 25 years’ experience, including lawyers who have served in the Armed Forces, Irwin Mitchell’s specialist military team offers a unique understanding of military life and dedicated support.

Irwin Mitchell has invested heavily in regional expansion in the past five years with new offices opened in Brighton, Cardiff, Liverpool, Nottingham and Reading. The firm has also recently taken up new space in The Northcliffe in London.
