Law Firm Increases Its Number Of Ranked Departments And Lawyers Ranked In Band One

Irwin Mitchell has seen its number of ranked departments increase following the publication of the Chambers & Partners Guide for 2025, including 23 lawyers ranking for the first time.

Irwin Mitchell now boasts 59 ranked departments, seven more than last year, with 21 of the firm’s teams ranked in band one. The firm now has 135 individually ranked lawyers, with 23 ranked in the guide for the first time. The results span across all the firm’s practice areas.

The Chambers and Partners Guide has been ranking law firms and their lawyers for over 30 years and remains the respected source of legal market intelligence. The latest guide covers over 70 specialist areas of law and remains the first port of call for those looking for information on legal services in the UK.

This year, Irwin Mitchell has three newly ranked practice areas for Environment (Manchester) Family (Southampton) and Public Law (Sheffield). An impressive 88% of ranked areas maintained their ranking from the 2024 guide, while 79% maintained or improved their rank.

Overall, the latest Chambers Guide saw 31 Irwin Mitchell lawyers ranked in band one, seven more than last year. Taken together, the rankings reinforce the firms standing, credibility and expertise across the core markers in which it operates.

The publication of the Chambers rankings comes in the wake of the Legal 500 UK Guide, which saw 24 of Irwin Mitchell’s practice areas featured in 62 categories and 139 lawyers recommended.
