Back to Dubai: Fostering relationships and supporting investment

Following on from a productive visit to the Middle East last November, I am returning to the region this week for a focused visit to Dubai.

The plan is simple.  A few concentrated days on the ground to do what works best in this city: meet people, listen closely, and crucially, help clients move forward with their plans.

When I was there late last year, Dubai felt as dynamic as ever. Indeed, this is one of the many reasons it remains highly attractive from a relocation point of view - particularly for UK entrepreneurs, business owners and their families. We are seeing continued interest from people looking to base themselves in Dubai, and the questions are practical as much as strategic: how to structure a move sensibly, and how to ensure their business interests run smoothly and remain productive. Very often, this will involve establishing effective local structures which operate as subsidiaries to those business interests.

Helping clients with their businesses is where much of my focus will be during the week - speaking with them and discussing the issues such as relocation, expansion, market entry and consolidation.

A core element of my role as Head of Irwin Mitchell’s Middle East Desk is to ensure that all Irwin Mitchell clients with connections to Dubai have access to local advisers and intermediaries who can make a real difference. The value is in joining the dots - making sure the local specialist support is in place to enable the implementation of the planning strategies which we devise.

This is also why it is invaluable to be on the ground, facilitating face‑to‑face conversations which bring the real issues to the surface quickly and help us agree clear next steps. Perhaps more than anywhere else, Dubai is a city where people and connections matter.

I am looking forward to tapping into the pervading energy and opportunities which Dubai offers in abundance. It certainly promises to be an interesting and productive trip. If you are there and would like to meet up and talk through your plans, I would be very happy to connect this week. Similarly, if you are not there yet but would like to investigate the options for you, your family or your business, I will be delighted to discuss further.”
