John’s Accident
John was working as a taxi driver when his accident happened. He was driving a passenger to their destination when he was suddenly faced with an oncoming vehicle driving at speed on his side of the road. There was nothing John could do to avoid the collision so he braced himself for impact. The cars crashed into each other with great force, causing John to lose consciousness for a short time.
John regained consciousness in his taxi and realised that both of his legs were broken and he couldn’t move. He could also see smoke coming out of his car and began to panic. Thankfully, two other road users saw the wreckage and rushed to drag John and his passenger from the vehicle, just seconds before it exploded behind them.
John suffered multiple fractures to his left leg and hip, as well as developing post-traumatic stress disorder because of his accident.
He struggled with many activities of daily living and needed support from his wife, who was heavily pregnant at the time. After his child was born, John’s injuries meant he couldn’t be as hands-on of a father as he’d wanted to be. This affected what would otherwise have been a very special first time dad experience.
John’s injuries also meant he couldn’t work as a taxi driver anymore, adding to his stress.
Taking Over John’s Claim
