Rotherham Hospital Medical Negligence Claims

Following an investigation that found dozens of failures in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) Service at Rotherham Hospital, we can help you to claim compensation if you were affected.

The background to Rotherham Hospital Medical Negligence Claims

Health bosses at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust commissioned an external review after the death or avoidable harm of 68 patients. These patients were all treated using an Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP).

ERCPs are done to diagnose and treat problems affecting the:

  • Liver
  • Pancreas
  • Bile ducts
  • Gallbladder

The procedure combines X-ray and endoscopy and can also be used to remove gallstones and take tissue samples for analysis.

The Royal College of Physicians carried out the review and found failures in the care of 58 patients. The report also stated that 25 patients “suffered some degree of harm”.

The service was suspended in July 2021, and after “a cluster of adverse incidents and complications”, patients were transferred to Sheffield.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing to make a group claim allows you to share the expenses of a claim with other people who’ve also experienced medical negligence at the hands of Rotherham Hospital.

A large benefit of making a group claim is that it can be just as time effective as it is cost effective. Presenting multiple people’s claims together as one removes the need for individual court proceedings, meaning your claim can often be settled much faster. This helps to remove much of the strain and stress from you.

Making a group claim also won’t impact the amount of compensation you’re entitled to. Each claim is unique, and we’ll make sure that your claim is settled for every penny you’re due based on the individual circumstances around your case.
