Biography
I am a Legal Director in the Private Client Advisory Team based in the firm’s Birmingham office.
I assist my clients with estate and tax planning, often advising on tax efficient will structuring, lifetime gifting and the use of trusts, partnership and corporate structures as way of protecting wealth for successive generations. I have particular expertise in advising farmers and landowners on matters concerning agricultural and business property relief, farm diversification and land development.
I also act in the administration of high value and complex estates including those presenting cross-border issues.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell is recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK. It has an outstanding national reputation, and I get to work with some of the best lawyers in the country.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I really enjoy the mix of technically challenging work and the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives.
What inspired you to get into law?
When studying music at school I became interested in copyright infringement cases (including the famous “Ice Ice Baby” case involving Vanilla Ice, Queen and David Bowie) so I decided to study law to learn more. Soon after qualifying I realised that my passion was to help individuals with their personal affairs and private client advisory work felt like the perfect fit for me.
What do you do away from the office?
I am a keen runner, currently training for the London2 Paris team run which I hope will be as much fun as it is daunting! When not pounding the roads I love walking my dog Dexter and spending time with my family and friends.
