Every year around 60,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK – the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes. The Mythbusters quiz will test how much people know about breast cancer risk factors and the signs and symptoms of the disease, to help sort the fact from the fiction. The quiz poses questions ranging from whether radiation from mammograms pose a risk, through to whether you have a higher risk of breast cancer if someone in your family has had the disease.
Lisa Jordan, partner and head of medical negligence at Irwin Mitchell, said: “We’re so proud to be supporting Breast Cancer Care on our new Mythbusters quiz to show our support for such a brilliant cause.
“We understand the importance of a prompt diagnosis, so it’s crucial to know the facts about breast cancer and how to check your breasts for signs and symptoms.
“This October the quiz will help raise awareness about breast cancer facts in a fun and simple way.”
Andy Harris, Spokesperson for Breast Cancer Care, said: “Although women often know to look out for a lump, many don’t know other breast cancer symptoms to be aware of, or that the main risk factors for developing the disease are being female and getting older.
“The Mythbusters quiz will help people test their knowledge and learn more about breast cancer. And this Breast Cancer Awareness Month we hope it will help people become more confident about knowing what’s normal for them so any unusual changes can be spotted quickly.”
