Law Firm Launch #SaferJourneys Campaign And A-Z To Promote Road Safety
Specialist serious injury lawyers at national law firm Irwin Mitchell are calling for motorists to make safety their priority in the coming months after their statistics show a 25 per cent increase in road traffic collisions when the clocks go back in October.
Following concerns regarding the increase in comparison with the summer months, the firm has launched the new ‘#SaferJourneys’ campaign to remind road users about the importance of being vigilant on the roads as the dark nights draw in.
The campaign launches with a ‘Stay Bright At Night’ promotion, aimed predominantly at children, to highlight the importance of staying bright in the clothes they wear and the way they think.
Free luminous wristbands are being given out to partnering schools and an A-Z of road safety has been created to help spread the safety message.
Serious injury experts at Irwin Mitchell regularly deal with the aftermath of road accidents and work to secure justice and rehabilitation for people seriously injured in road collisions.
Andrea Burke, a specialist serious injury lawyer who deals with these cases, has urged everyone to take care and be responsible once the clocks change.
The firm has enlisted the help of children, who have recorded video safety messages and sent in photos which will appear across social media, to help spread the word and raise awareness of the campaign.
Irwin Mitchell has put together a special A-Z of safety advice to help raise awareness of any possible issues road users and pedestrians may face.
Sion Kingston, a specialist serious injury lawyer, who has helped put together the striking visual guide reiterated the importance of road safety during the darker winter months.
Expert Opinion
“Sadly we see far too regularly people whose lives have been changed forever as a consequence of road traffic collisions.
“Drivers losing concentration for a split-second or ignoring simple road safety advice can be extremely costly, especially when the weather worsens and it’s darker for longer periods of time.
“Teaching children the key skills needed to stay safe around the road is vital, as they can be particularly vulnerable at this time of year.
“Hopefully families, schools and charity groups will all use the A-Z to remind kids and all road users of safety during the darker nights and ultimately it leads to a decrease in avoidable incidents during the winter months.
“We have launched the #SaferJourneys campaign to remind everyone how important it is to stay sensible and alert once the clocks go back. Dark and wintery conditions present possible dangers for pedestrians, runners, cyclists, car drivers and motorbike riders.
“Stay bright at night and make sure to follow our road safety advice.” Sion Kingston - Partner
