People Affected By Issue Urged To Get In Touch
By Rob Dixon
Specialist illness lawyers at Irwin Mitchell are concerned to receive reports of illnesses after residents in Seasalter, Kent were left surrounded by sewage due to a burst pipe.
The spillage in Seasalter, which lasted for several hours, occurred after a pipe burst causing a 12 metre split in the pipe. Consequently, sewage flooded from one garden into neighbouring gardens.
Amongst those affected were a couple who have reported gastric illness after coming into contact with the liquid. The couple have informed Irwin Mitchell that several other residents who live on the street have also suffered with similar illnesses.
Gastroenteritis can be caused by organisms in sewage such as Salmonella, E-coli, Shigella and Cryptosporidium. The team has also received reports of a potentially contaminated water supply at a block of flats in Wandsworth.
Irwin Mitchell’s team of illness lawyers have vast amounts of experience in representing people who have fallen ill as a result of contaminated water or other hazardous substances, as well as victims of illness outbreaks in the UK and abroad.
Amandeep Dhillon, a specialist in Illness claims at national law firm Irwin Mitchell, said: “We have heard first-hand of concerns regarding this issue in Kent and have also been informed that others may have suffered as a result of the problems.
“The victims we have spoken to are understandably concerned about what happened and are also keen for answers as to how it occurred, as well as what can be done to prevent it from being repeated in the future.
“We would urge anyone affected by this incident in Kent, the problems in Wandsworth or other cases of water contamination to get in touch with any information they may have.”
