Concerns Raised Over Rose Lodge Nursery School Problems
NHS Grampian has revealed that seven confirmed cases of E.Coli have now been linked to an illness outbreak at Rose Lodge Nursery School in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire.
A health protection team from the trust is investigating the illness problems which have seen three adults and children all fall victim to the E.Coli 0157 bacteria, which leads to symptoms including diarrhoea, stomach cramps and loss of appetite.
Parents of children who regularly attend the nursery have been urged to follow best practice in terms of hygiene, as well as to contact their doctor if they are concerned about the health of their youngsters.
Irwin Mitchell specialises in acting for victims who have suffered long-term health problems as a result of illness outbreaks both in the UK and abroad, including people who have caught E.Coli in environments including holiday resorts and cruise ships.
Elaine Russell, a Partner at the law firm’s Glasgow office, said there was a clear need for more information to be gathered in relation to this outbreak,
She outlined: “Illness outbreaks can have a huge impact on sufferers of all ages, particularly the elderly and the young. This means it is particularly important that answers are provided as to how this illness emerged and what can be done to prevent further instances of outbreak in the future.
“Particular issues which need to considered by the investigation include all the nursery’s hygiene standards, as this may particularly give some insight into what could be done to avoid similar problems again.
“Ultimately and for the sake of all of the families affected by this, it is vital that lessons can be learned which will go some way to improving standards of hygiene within nurseries.”
