Woman Dies After Being Seriously Injured At Event
Police are investigating after one woman died and around eight others were injured after a horse and carriage got loose at a Suffolk country fair.
Officers are appealing for witnesses in relation to the serious incident at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds, which saw one woman suffer serious life-threatening injuries after being run over yesterday afternoon (June 19th).
The 57-year-old was in a critical condition in hospital following the incident, but it has since been confirmed she has died.
Experts at Irwin Mitchell, who represent a number of people seriously injured in public places, have called for a thorough investigation to be held into how the incident came to occur.
Katrina Elsey, a public liability claims specialist at the law firm, said: “This incident has raised serious concerns over the safety standards in place at the country fair and it is vital that an investigation considers whether guidance was adhered to.
“For the sake of the families of those affected by this terrible incident, it is clear that answers are needed over how this happened and whether it could have been prevented.
“Hopefully, by addressing these questions, an investigation will go some way to ensuring lessons are learnt and that any failings can be acted up on so no one else suffers in the same manner.”
