Dog Attack
A five-year-old girl could be scarred for the rest of her life after she was savaged by dog just yards from her home.
Amber Churm was rushed to hospital after she was attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier in Thurnscoe, South Yorkshire.
She was playing with her eight-year-old sister Jade when the dog came and bit her on the face and arm.
Amber's mum Kelly said her daughter had been left traumatised by the attack.
She told the South Yorkshire Times: "Since she was bitten she has been waking up crying and she is very wary about dogs now. We only live down the road from the primary school and I dread to think what could happen if the dog is allowed out again."
The attack follows an incident last week in which six-year-old Chloe Ashman was forced to have three life-saving operations after a Staffordshire bull terrier ripped part of her throat out in Folkestone, Kent.
Chloe's father, Lee Ashman, has since called on the Government to outlaw the keeping of fighting dogs such as Staffordshire bull terriers as pets.
