Law Firm Supports Inclusive Push/Run For Disabled Individuals
National law firm Irwin Mitchell have reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive disabled sports by continuing their partnership with Parallel London into 2017.
Having held its inaugural event last September, Parallel London is the world’s fully inclusive push/run and hopes, on 3 September 2017, to build on the successes of last year.
Held at the Olympic Park just before the launch of the Rio Paralympics, the 2016 event attracted more than 3,000 participants and crowds of over 5,500.
The event, open to participants both with and without disabilities, retains a primary focus on accessibility for as many people as possible, regardless of ability.
Parallel London achieves this broad accessibility not only through the selection of push/run events that it offers – four choices ranging from 100m to 10km – but also in its unique ‘Super Sensory 1k’. This event offers a ‘sensory experience’ tailored to those with conditions such as autism and others who require any degree of sensory support.
We were proud to be directly involved in last year’s event, as a team from Irwin Mitchell’s London office took part in the race to help support one of their clients - a girl with cerebral palsy who, alongside her family, was determined to participate in the 5k event.
The opportunities that Parallel London’s events offer to people such as these are a fantastic example of the goals of Irwin Mitchell’s Don’t Quit, Do It campaign, which aims to promote and encourage participation in disabled sport and activity.
Beyond the athletic centrepiece of the day, Parallel London also encompasses a family festival dedicated to promoting and enabling accessible living.
This festival showcases a broad variety of accessible forms of art, technology and sport, which hope to break down barriers and provide an inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy.

“This is exactly what our Don’t Quit, Do It campaign is about, and is a clear example of the role that sports and physical activity can have upon the lives of disabled people.” Alison Eddy - Regional Managing Partner
