Leading Supermarkets Remove Products From Shelves Following Concerns Over Contamination
Expert public health lawyers have reacted to several supermarkets across the UK recalling camembert over concerns that the cheese may be contaminated with listeria, a bacteria that can cause food poisoning.
Sainsbury's recalled its Taste the Difference Camembert and Camembert Pays products, Asda removed its Extra Special Camembert de Pays, and the Co-op its Truly Irresistible Camembert following recommendations from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The supermarkets have also advised customers not to eat products previously purchased within certain dates, and stated that the levels of listeria found in the products have been low.
