Legal Experts Instructed By Concerned Patients

Specialist medical negligence lawyers representing patients who faced problems following treatment at Barts Health NHS Trust have said the Care Quality Commission’s decision to place the trust in special measures has raised serious concerns which must urgently be investigated.

The CQC has rated Royal London Hospital and Newham University Hospital as inadequate following inspections carried out after issues were identified at Whipps Cross University Hospital earlier this year.

Those problems led to Barts NHS Trust being placed in special measures, with concerns including issues related to patient safety and an apparent culture of blame in the workforce.

According to the CQC, the trust has a total of 65 areas which it has to improve on.

Irwin Mitchell’s specialist Medical Law and Patients’ Rights team, which acts for more than 50 patients who have raised issues regarding the care provided by the trust, has urged that urgent steps are taken to boost standards.
