Sabrina Allen, who was abducted aged five in April 2002 by her mother, Dara Llorens, has been found in Mexico 12 years after being kidnapped.

She was taken by her mother during a scheduled weekend visit following her divorce from Sabrina’s father Greg Allen. For over a decade Mr Allen and law enforcement agencies in the US have tried to find Sabrina.

The 17-year-old has now been flown back to Austin, Texas where she will undergo analysis by psychiatrists to understand if she is ready to meet her father again.

Mr Allen said there is no timetable in place for when he will be reunited with his daughter. "We're very eager to have her home as soon as possible, and we're going to slowly introduce family members and do what we can."

Her mother had told her that her father had committed sexual offences against children and beaten her to explain their life on the run in Mexico, where Sabrina spent the majority of her time indoors and did not attend school.
