Irwin Mitchell Scotland Wins Litigation Team Of The Year

The Team Beat Off Competition From Six Other Scottish Firms

21.03.2014

The team, who were highly commended last year, beat off stiff competition from six other Scottish firms to win the highly-contested category. There were a record number of applications received for the 11th year of the awards, with Litigation Team of the Year the most popular.

Irwin Mitchell Scotland acts for more than 30 victims, including those affected personally and the families of those killed, in the fatal Edinburgh Legionnaires’ outbreak in 2012.

Irwin Mitchell Scotland also acts for a number of injured victims and families who lost loved ones in the Clutha helicopter tragedy in Glasgow in November last year. The team has received an admission of liability from Bond Aviation Group, the owner and operator of the helicopter, as well as securing interim funding to allow victims to get access to vital counselling support. They continue to campaign for both the Scottish and UK Governments to launch a public inquiry into commercial helicopter safety in the UK.

Expert Opinion
We’re delighted to see our litigation team’s hard work recognised at the awards this year, building on last year when we were highly commended in the category.

“We have had some particularly challenging litigation cases in the past year and winning this award against some very strong names from the Scottish legal market is a real testament to the strength of our team.”
