Report From Ofsted Identifies Room For Improvement

Some improvements need to be made to children’s services operated by Swindon Council, according to a new report published by Ofsted.

The Swindon Advertiser reports that an inspection earlier this year identified that while no young people were in any immediate danger, there were issues that need to be addressed to ensure the best possible support is provided.

Key areas identified included improving recognition of the signs of exploitation and better management of children’s cases when they are first referred.

In response to the report, the council’s cabinet member for children’s services Fionuala Foley said many of the issues flagged were already under consideration and had been subject to action.

She added: “I am delighted they recognised all the good work being done in the adoption service and the level of leadership we have.”
