The One Stop on Ribbleton Avenue was served with a hygiene emergency prohibition notice after the dead mice, droppings and signs of mice eaten products in the shop were discovered.
The shop was allowed to reopen the following day after inspectors were satisfied the hygiene issues had been resolved.
Cabinet members for planning and regulation, Councillor John Swindells, told local media: “Food safety is of paramount importance to the council for the wellbeing of the public. Hygiene emergency prohibition notices exist for those premises who put food safety at risk.”
A One Stop spokesperson also told local media: “We take the cleanliness of our stores and the safety of our customers extremely seriously, so were concerned to hear of the issue at our Ribbleton Lane store. We have taken swift action to deal with the issue, ensuring the store opened again as quickly as possible. We have launched a full investigation into how this could have happened.”
