Dee Looks Forward To Supporting IAB Across The West Midlands
By David Shirt
Dee Kundi, a banking litigation solicitor at law firm Irwin Mitchell, has been appointed to the Executive Board at the Institute of Asian Businesses (IAB) in Birmingham.
The IAB is part of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group and specialises in supporting the needs of Asian businesses across the city. The organisation works closely with the Chamber to lobby on the key issues and concerns faced by its members, whilst also providing a range of regular networking events.
In her role at the IAB, Dee will support the IAB Director, Dipak Shelat, to actively review and respond to policies and developments that affect Asian businesses. Dee will also link up with local partners, stakeholders and key employers to ensure the organisation continues to operate as a cohesive and effective business group.
Dee has significant banking litigation experience which includes advising banks, building societies and financial institutions on all contentious issues arising from their lender service. These include professional negligence disputes, breach of mandate claims, fraud, personal guarantee disputes, restrictive covenant and consumer credit issues.
Commenting on her appointment to the IAB Executive Board, Dee said: “Being able to combine this position with my role at Irwin Mitchell is a fantastic opportunity. I have long admired what the IAB does in Birmingham and I’m looking forward to working closely with the organisation to support it and ensure it continues to help and make a difference to businesses across the West Midlands. It is also an exciting time to be involved as the IAB recently joined forces with other Asian business groups to form a larger, national body. This should ensure that the voice of Asian firms is heard even more clearly.”
IAB President Nasir Awan said: “Dee was selected as an IAB executive committee member, from a very worthy list of applicants. Her experience and expertise gave her application much merit. I look forward to working with her as she brings her knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the organisation which will benefit member businesses.”
Irwin Mitchell recently advised on the formation of the National Asian Business Association (NABA). The new organisation was launched by Vince Cable at the beginning of March 2013 and aims to bring together all 11 local Asian Business Associations, including the IAB in Birmingham, in order to provide a larger, unified voice on business issues. NABA has 70,000 members in the UK.
