Victim Suffers Facial Injuries
A lorry driver has suffered facial injuries following an incident which saw a block of ice thrown through the windscreen of his vehicle.
Graham Minto, 58, was travelling along the A1 close to Newcastle when his windscreen was shattered by the ice, which had been dropped from an overhead footbridge crossing the road.
The victim managed to pull his vehicle over into a lay-by and he was then hospitalised while pieces of glass were removed from this face.
Police have confirmed they are searching for two youths believed to be responsible for the incident.
Caroline Mitchell, who specialises in cases linked to injuries suffered in incidents on the road for Irwin Mitchell, commented: “It is massively concerning that this man was injured in the manner he was.
“This incident will have undoubtedly have been traumatic, particularly considering the treacherous driving conditions that many people have had to endure on Britain’s roads in the past few days.
“All road users deserve to be able to make use of the roads without the potential threat of incidents like this.”
