Cavendish Cancer Care
A young lawyer, from Manchester based Irwin Mitchell, downed tools and headed for the hills recently to help raise money for Cavendish Cancer Care and Great Ormond Street Hospital charity in a gruelling 45-mile walk across the Peak District.
Georgina Sheldon, from the firm, along with friend and trainee solicitor, Rachel Cousins, completed the walk from Manchester to Sheffield in less than 24 hours raising over £1,200 for Cavendish Cancer Care and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The friends, who successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks in 2005 and climbed Mount Fuji in Japan in 2006, are not strangers to setting themselves physically demanding challenges. However, this was the first time they had undertaken anything like this without the support of an organised event.
"The walk started out as a personal challenge for us," Georgina said. "But we both liked the idea of raising money along the way to help our nominated charities."
