23.11.2007

Three people have been injured in a blast at a pharmaceutical factory in north London.

Emergency services were called after a 200 litre drum of carbon powder burst at the Aesica plant in Enfield on Monday.

One man suffered a serious head injury in the blast and was taken to hospital.

Two other men suffered minor wounds in this accident at work and required hospital treatment.

David Urpeth, Partner comments, "This tragic case highlights the need for the highest levels of safety when workers are expected to work with explosive products.  Sadly, I have represented many individuals who have been injured following explosions at work."

David Urpeth represented over 80 workers injured in an explosion at the Conoco oil refinery Immingham which was described at the time by the health and safety executive as possibly the worst industrial explosion since Flixborough.
