Following the announcement by the MHRA that a number of unlicensed internet medicine sites allegedly selling prescription-only medicines illegally in the UK have been shut down, David Pruce, Director of Practice and Quality Improvement at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain said:

"The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has welcomed action by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency to shut down internet sites allegedly selling prescription-only medicines. However, there are legitimate pharmacy websites but these must operate from registered pharmacy premises. Members of the public wishing to check registration of such pharmacies can do so on the RPSGB's website www.rpsgb.org
