14.08.2006

A scuba diving accident off the Mediterranean island of Gozo has resulted in the deaths of a father and son.

The couple, from Wales died last week on holiday in Malta. An investigation is underway looking at how the father and son drowned on the family holiday.

The pair were both novice divers and got into difficulties about 50ft down on a dive.

The man's wife - an experienced diver tried to resuscitate the pair, but sadly they had died by the time paramedics arrived.

Travel solicitor Guy Bailey commented:

"I would urge people to be careful and take all the necessary safety precautions when taking part in potentially dangerous activities on holiday, especially water sports."
