66 Tourists Receive £270,000 After Falling Ill At The Paraiso Del Sol Hotel

We secured more than £270,000 in compensation for 66 holidaymakers who suffered gastric illness at the Paraiso Del Sol Hotel in the Dominican Republic between November 2004 and May 2005.

Our clients had a number of complaints with the quality of the accommodation including flies landing on uncovered food in the hotel restaurant and cockroaches appearing in their bedrooms. The guests suffered from diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach pain. Many went on to develop long term gastric conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

The tour operator, My Travel, admitted responsibility for the illness suffered by our clients and we reached a settlement for all 66 holidaymakers.

Marc Stringer from Kent was one of our clients. He became so ill while at the resort that he was put on an IV drip to rehydrate and continued to suffer upon his return home to the UK. We secured £5,925 for Marc, while the most seriously ill of our clients received more than £18,000.
