Former Machine Operative Claims For Hearing Loss

Irwin Mitchell has helped a man in his 70s obtain compensation for loss of hearing caused by his employment in the 1960s.

The man aged 77 on settlement was employed by India Mills between 1961 and 1968 as a spinning machine operative.

During his employment, the man was not provided with any protective equipment, which included ear protection.

The man found recently he had difficulties following a conversation and also found he had a persistent buzzing in both ears.

The man therefore instructed Irwin Mitchell, who took on his case, and instructed a medical expert to provide a report regarding the man’s hearing loss.

It was found the man’s hearing had been damaged significantly during his period employment and this could have been prevented with the provision of ear protection.

The man received compensation in the region of £3600.
