Irwin Mitchell’s accidents at work team recently helped a man to secure compensation after he was injured at work.
Our client was sub-contracted as a labourer to a main contractor of a site. At the time of the accident our client and a colleague were working on a high floor of a building and were trying to get a bolt out of a concrete core that had been cemented into place by other contractors. Our client and his colleague were using a hydraulic jack to try and ease the bolt out. As they were using the jack the pressure within it pushed the jack backwards and the head of the jack struck our client fully in the face causing him injury. He sustained fractures to his cheekbones and nose and soft tissue facial injuries which required surgery.
Due to the injury our client sustained as a result of the incident he had to have time off work.
Liability was admitted by the Defendant in this case and through the hard work of Irwin Mitchell’s solicitors £6,700 in compensation was awarded.
