A Lancashire man has received £15,000 compensation after he was injured in a hit and run.
Our client, from Poulton-le-Fylde, is a pensioner with severe arthritis in his lower limbs. On the day of the accident, he was walking his dog in the local park and, as he is unable to walk far, had decided to sit on the tailgate of his car with his dog off its lead.
The defendant, an elderly woman, approached our client and made offensive remarks regarding his dog being off the lead.
The defendant returned to her car and, as our client followed, she revved the engine and knocked him over and onto the bonnet and proceeded to drive 2-300m down the road with him hanging on for dear life. Eventually he was thrown off the vehicle sustaining orthopaedic injuries.
The defendant was convicted of dangerous driving and banned for 5 years.
The case was settled by Keith Cundall of Irwin Mitchell's Personal Injury Department based in Manchester.
