As part of the series of seminars we will be covering the specialist topic area of Wills and Trusts.
Thursday 25 April 2013
Wills & Trusts
Carol Wells, Associate, Irwin Mitchell LLP
You will be guided through trust law relating to family trusts and shown what impact family breakdown can have on those trusts. The seminar will be interactive which will give you the chance to act as Judge on a case presented on the day.
Case Study Scenario
Once upon a time there was a handsome young man called Tom. Tom came from a rich family who bestowed great wealth upon him via the “Cruise Trust” set up by his grandparents. Tom married a pretty young thing called Katie who made him very happy for many years.
Unfortunately all did not go smoothly and the couple separated..now they are divorcing. Katie seeks advice from her lawyers. Can she make a claim on Tom’s interest in the Cruise Trust? Or is the family trust safe from her clutches?
It’s an interesting and common scenario. If you’re an IFA or Financial Planner and are interested in finding out more about how family breakdown can impact on trusts, these seminars are for you!
