Lawyers Instructed As Fresh Illness Concerns Emerge Regarding Majorcan Resort

Experts Contacted For Second Consecutive Year Regarding Club Mac Jupiter Hotel In Alcudia

Legal experts who specialise in representing victims of illness outbreaks at holiday resorts across the world have been instructed for a second consecutive year by holidaymakers who have reported suffering illness at a hotel in Majorca.

Karen Arnold, from Stockport, has revealed how her special break with six other members of her family at the Club Mac Jupiter Hotel in Alcudia in June this year was ruined when some of them developed severe gastric illness including symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.

The family has now instructed specialist travel lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to commence investigations in to the issues that they faced during the holiday which was booked through Jet2 Holidays, in an effort to gain answers regarding their ordeal.

This was the fourth time that the family had stayed at the hotel but this time they reported that the restaurant was sometimes dirty and some of the food in the buffet area was left uncovered for long periods of time. The holidaymakers have also reported that some of the food appeared to be served on more than one occasion. The swimming pool was also emptied on one occasion due to excrement which was seen in the pool.

The legal experts have vast experience securing justice for holidaymakers affected by illness outbreaks at holiday resorts across the globe and have notably represented people who suffered similar problems at the same hotel during stays in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014.

Expert Opinion
“We are very concerned to have heard first-hand accounts regarding the problems that Karen and her family have faced during their stay at the hotel earlier this year.

“While we are continuing to investigate the problems that clients reported in relation to stays in 2014, we have commenced further inquiries in to these recent allegations to try to determine how these illness issues emerged and to help our clients understand the cause of the problems they faced.

“We would urge anyone else who may be able to provide information regarding conditions at the resort to come forward and assist us with our investigations on behalf of the family.”

Karen Arnold, 51, and four other members of her family suffered diarrhoea and stomach cramps on the day they were due to be travelling home from their week-long break at Club Mac Jupiter Hotel.

She recalls: “We’d had a relatively problem free break but towards the end of the holiday some of us started to really suffer with illness.

“One of the saddest aspects is that this was a special holiday which was meant to be memorable, but now when I look back I only think about the problems that I suffered.

“I just want to know how I came to fall ill and what can be done to ensure no one else suffers like I did.”
