National Law Firm Proudly Back 9000 Runner Race
National law firm Irwin Mitchell is proudly supporting the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon in March, a local event which promotes the many benefits of being active and helps raise money for a number of fantastic causes.
In 2015 Irwin Mitchell launched Don’t Quit, Do It, to promote and support inclusive events like the half marathon in Cambridge, where people with a disability can take part alongside able bodied competitors.
The firm has an office in Cambridge and knows how important a role physical activity can play in rehabilitation, regularly helping clients from the local community who need support after suffering a life threatening injury.
Set to take place in front of hundreds of spectators on Sunday 5 March, the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon will take participants past a number of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Round Library, King’s College and Fitzwilliam Museum.
Despite only launching six years ago, the event has risen in popularity quickly, with 9000 runners aged from 18 to 76 signed up to this year’s sold out run.
Guy Forster is a medical negligence expert at law firm at Irwin Mitchell and will be taking part in the event along with fellow colleagues and a client from Cambridge.
He said: “We’re very pleased to be able to support the Cambridge Half Marathon when the rapidly-growing event returns in March 2017.
“Due to the work we do with people who have suffered life changing injuries, as well as those who support and care for them, we recognise the psychological, social and rehabilitative benefits that physical activity can have.
“It’s great to be able to support an inclusive event like this which promotes positive health and wellbeing whilst also helping to raise crucial funds for brilliant charities like Contact a Family."
Adam Moffat, Race Director said "We've seen the fantastic Don't Quit, Do It campaign that Irwin Mitchell run to encourage inclusive activity and we're delighted that they're supporting our upcoming half marathon - it should be a brilliant day for everyone involved and we’re sure this will be the biggest and best year yet.
The event raises funds for Contact a Family, a charity for families with disabled children that Irwin Mitchell work with on a regular basis. The charity brings families together so they can support each other and campaign to improve their circumstances, and for their right to be included and equal in society.
Last year the firm sponsored the iconic Tour of Cambridge event last summer and like the thousands of participants they’re hoping for another special event which provides a fun filled day of fitness and fundraising.
