Law Firm’s Work In Yorkshire & Humber Recognised
The volunteering and corporate social responsibility efforts of Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield offices have been recognised at Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Awards in Yorkshire & Humber, with the firm taking home the Employee Volunteering Business prize.
Held in Bradford last night (June 18th), the awards formed part of BITC’s Yorkshire and Humber Responsible Business Gala Dinner and recognise the positive impact that companies based in or operating in the region have on the local community.
Irwin Mitchell’s award for Employee Volunteering Business recognised the firm’s partnership with BITC and Chaucer Business and Enterprise College.
Over the last year, volunteers from the office have been involved in delivering a number of initiatives at Chaucer including Right to Read and ‘Maths in the Workplace’ workshops with year 7s, attendance improvement schemes and aspirational careers talks as part of the Business Class scheme.
The schemes aim to not only boost all-important maths and literacy skills, but also provide awareness of why these skills are so vital and how performing well in these can open the door to a number of opportunities both in law and business in general.
As well as this, a large group of volunteers took part in the annual Give & Gain Day which once again proved to be a massive success and made a real impact on the community around Charlton Brook in Chapeltown.
