The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a product recall notice for a number of frozen food products manufactured by Azalea Food Ltd.

Concerns have been raised over batches of chicken rolls and samosas, and vegetable rolls and samosas, after the company revealed the products were produced and/or repackaged in unhygienic conditions in an unapproved establishment.

The batch numbers affected by the recall can be found on the FSA website.

Azalea Foods Ltd is issuing product recall notices to customers and displaying them in stores, with consumers being advised not to eat the products and to return them to the stores they were purchased from.

Expert Opinion
This is the latest in a long line of product recalls issued by the FSA relating to failings within the manufacturing and packaging procedures of food products.

“While we welcome the swift action taken by the manufacturer, we hope that a thorough investigation is carried out into how these products we produced and/or packaged in an unhygienic environment, which could put the health and safety of consumers at risk.

“We have seen first-hand the consequences contaminated food products can have on those unfortunate enough to eat them. It is vital more is done to ensure every food product entering the market is suitable for consumption and the health of consumers is compromised.”
